New Custom 2012 Star Raider SCL

The only new bike in Star's 2012 Linuep, the Raider SCL (Star Custom Line) will be one exclusive motorcycle, available for a select few.Only 500 of the Raider SCL will be built, the customized machine bringing a limited uniqueness to the chopper scene. The most stand-out thing that separates the SCL from the Raider S and Raider is the six-layer paint, which provides a high-metallic blazing orange.

The wheels are co-developed by Performance Machine and are limited to this model. Other details include a chrome belt guard, and stainless mesh throttle cables and clutch/brake lines. Star chose to leave the potent 1854cc (113 cubic inch) motor stock, as it is already at, or near, the top of the production v-twin hierarchy.
The 2012 Star Raider SCL comes with distinct features inspired by the custom cruiser market. A six-layer paint process combines custom quality, high-metallic Blazing Orange paint with metal flake developed exclusively for Star Motorcycles.

The Stratoliner Deluxe returns for 2012 with several exciting new features which enhance the overall cruiser touring experience. The new motorcycle-friendly Garmin Zumo 665 GPS with a flip down design is loaded with features including navigation, Bluetooth and optional with subscription Sirius/XM satellite radio ready, real-time weather, weather radar, traffic, road condition warnings and much more. A new closeable lid helps keep iPod, iPhone and other small items in place while new chrome speaker trim and a re-designed tank emblem accentuates the styling of the Stratoliner Deluxe. Available in Liquid Silver it will also be available in February.

Photos don’t really do the six-layer-deep orange marmalade metal-flake paint job justice, and the real leather two-tone seat goes with the flow like your favorite broken-in boots. Chrome Performance Machine wheels and a matching rear drive pulley, along with braided stainless hoses and a few other custom touches all add up to an even more “custom” factory custom. H-D claims its CVOs have been very successful. At $19,990, the SCL will sell for a $5400 premium over the base model. Compared to a current CVO’s $30K-plus price, that’s bargain basement.
