2011 Suzuki Burgman 400 ABS Concept

2011 Suzuki Burgman 400 ABS Concept There are a lot of labels to describe the niche that Suzuki Burgman aims to fill: Touring scooter. Maxi-scoot. Super scooter. But there’s one brand that the Burgman 400 ABS should wear with pride: car replacement. Bigger scoots like the Burgman always defy classification especially stateside – because they’re not a motorcycle and they’re not a scooter, but they offer a heaping helping of what’s to like about both those categories.

Around town or on longer rides, the Burgman 400 offers an impressively comfortable ride. It has plush suspension, matched by a sleek, aerodynamic fairing that provides excellent protection from the wind. A stepped seat and an easily adjustable backrest for the rider provides comfortable seating mile after mile. And concave floorboards offer you and your passenger plenty of legroom.

The engine is paired with a -Speed Continuously Variable (CVT) transmission and total fuel capacity is 3.6 gallons. The Burgman 400 ABS rides on Aluminum wheels with a 120/80 R14M/C 58S front tire and a 150/70 R13M/C 64S rear tire. The front suspension is a Telescopic Fork while the rear suspension is a Single Sided Swing Arm. Front Dual Hydraulic Disc brakes and rear Hydraulic Disc brakes provide for the stopping power. The Burgman 400 ABS comes standard with a One-Piece, 2-passenger seating.

Out on the open road, you’d probably be surprised to know that the Burgman 400 can reach speeds of 150 km/h and above; actually, it surprised the driver of a BMW who thought he could pass me with his eyes closed as we were both merging onto the highway.

2012 Honda CBR1000RR Feature

Honda’s CBR1000RR has long been a favorite around the MO offices, especially since the 2008 version tested here. Nearly as light as a 600 but with liter-class-leading midrange power, the big double-R vaulted to the top of its class.

The changes to the 2012 Fireblade look to include a freshly angular front end, new colours (including this HRC livery), and will probably reveal some mechanical upgrades, including Showa big piston front forks. Otherwise, we don’t know what other changes might be brewing under the very familiar fairing.

Starting with the chassis, the 2012 Honda CBR1000RR now utilizes Big Piston Fork technology, complemented by Honda’s “Balance-Free Rear Shock.” Exactly what the new configuration brings to the table is being kept under wraps until the upcoming press introduction of the new model. Stay tuned for a technical explanation of Balance-Free in the coming months.

Next, the 2012 Honda CBR1000RR sport bike carries new information system features a large, LCD-style dashboard with digital tech running horizontally across the top, large speedometer in the center, lap-timer, gear position indicator, engine temp, clock, trip meters, and a series of shift-indicator lights across the upper edge of the dash frame.

New Custom 2012 Star Raider SCL

The only new bike in Star's 2012 Linuep, the Raider SCL (Star Custom Line) will be one exclusive motorcycle, available for a select few.Only 500 of the Raider SCL will be built, the customized machine bringing a limited uniqueness to the chopper scene. The most stand-out thing that separates the SCL from the Raider S and Raider is the six-layer paint, which provides a high-metallic blazing orange.

The wheels are co-developed by Performance Machine and are limited to this model. Other details include a chrome belt guard, and stainless mesh throttle cables and clutch/brake lines. Star chose to leave the potent 1854cc (113 cubic inch) motor stock, as it is already at, or near, the top of the production v-twin hierarchy.
The 2012 Star Raider SCL comes with distinct features inspired by the custom cruiser market. A six-layer paint process combines custom quality, high-metallic Blazing Orange paint with metal flake developed exclusively for Star Motorcycles.

The Stratoliner Deluxe returns for 2012 with several exciting new features which enhance the overall cruiser touring experience. The new motorcycle-friendly Garmin Zumo 665 GPS with a flip down design is loaded with features including navigation, Bluetooth and optional with subscription Sirius/XM satellite radio ready, real-time weather, weather radar, traffic, road condition warnings and much more. A new closeable lid helps keep iPod, iPhone and other small items in place while new chrome speaker trim and a re-designed tank emblem accentuates the styling of the Stratoliner Deluxe. Available in Liquid Silver it will also be available in February.

Photos don’t really do the six-layer-deep orange marmalade metal-flake paint job justice, and the real leather two-tone seat goes with the flow like your favorite broken-in boots. Chrome Performance Machine wheels and a matching rear drive pulley, along with braided stainless hoses and a few other custom touches all add up to an even more “custom” factory custom. H-D claims its CVOs have been very successful. At $19,990, the SCL will sell for a $5400 premium over the base model. Compared to a current CVO’s $30K-plus price, that’s bargain basement.

Launched Ducati 1199 Panigale

Ducati gives us a teaser of its 2012 1199 superbike by releasing its name and logo, but we won’t get the whole enchilada until the EICMA show in Milan on Nov. 10-13. The Ducati 1199 Panigale is named to honor the Italian marque’s hometown. Here’s the official word from Ducati PR.

The new model not only will deliver record performance, breathtaking design and technical innovation, it also breaks with our Superbike tradition by adding a name to its 1199cc engine capacity, making a significant and warm association to its historic roots in the Borgo Panigale (pronounced "Pan-ee-gah-lee") area of Bologna.

Having attracted massive, world-wide interest during the machine’s many test phases, the exciting new model is also now officially named in an emotional video released on the Italian manufacturer’s website, www.ducatiusa.com, and Ducati Motor Holding’s official Youtube channel. The wait to discover the incredible performance, innovative design and ground-breaking technologies of the new 1199 Panigale will continue for just a few more weeks.

Purists might already be turning a bright shade of rosso corsa, but it’s interesting to note that none other than three-time WSBK champion Troy Bayliss has been instrumental in developing the Panigale. And that, ladies and gentlemen, is no bad thing at all. We just wonder whether all this breaking away from tradition business might be a sign of an all-new radical Desmosedici for Valentino Rossi in 2012.

New 2011 Triumph Speed Triple R

The best selling motorcycle of the new era of Triumph needed an update, and it received a very successful one. The 2011 Speed Triple is more modern, refined and a much better motorcycle, overall. Already equipped with the motor and frame from the Daytona 675 supersport bike, the Street Triple R adds in higher-spec suspension and brakes, and then tucks in the front forks another four-tenths of a degree, just to sharpen up the handling.

Triumph’s liquid-cooled Inline Triple makes all the difference. A mechanical equivalent to Goldilocks’ too hot and too cold dilemma, the Street Triple R’s 675cc three-cylinder mill is just right. It combines the best of the Twin and Four into its own distinctive blend

The prevalent use of carbon fiber on the bike drastically reduced its weight, making it lighter and faster than any of the standard Speed Triple’s out there. The light weight of the bike, combined with its powerful engine, has turned an already impressive Speed Triple into the Impoz Speed Racer..

Distinguishing the Street Triple R are three stunning color schemes: Matte Graphite, Matte Blazing Orange and a new Phantom Black and gold combination. The Street Triple R is not a subtle motorcycle. It’s a bike for those who like to take it to the max.

The bike surges forward at the smallest flex of your wrist muscles, with no need to hunt for the right gear in the close-ratio box, and the sensation is enhanced by the immediate, utterly dependable throttle response. Sensation is the correct word, because the motor is even better than the spec sheet suggests, adding sensory value with its gorgeously evocative aural qualities, a snarling growl that morphs into a howl, underpinned by the unmistakable Triumph geartrain whistle, as you spin it hard.

2011 Triumph Tiger 800 XC First Ride

Powered by a three-cylinder motor-not exactly what you usually take out into the dirt-the Tiger XC sports nominally off-road tires on laced wheels. It is delivered not only with the 21 inch front wheel, but aggressive dual-sport tires, and is far more dirt-ready than any previous Triumph. The XC version is a genuine dual-purpose bike.

The primary difference between the two middleweights is the powerplant. Triumph’s three-cylinder shares the same compression ratio (12.0:1) as the BMW Twin and the dual overhead cam design uses four valves per cylinder, but that’s where the similarities stop. Bore and stroke is 74mm x 61.9mm and it cranks out a very respectable 81.6 horsepower and 49.7 lb-ft of torque. While it definitely wails more than the BMW, it’s not all top-end like an Inline-Four.

Ten-spoke, cast aluminum wheels shod with 110/80-19 and 150/70-17 tires are fitted to the standard bike; the XC rolls on wire-spoke wheels with semi-knobbed 90/90-21 and 150/70-17 rubber. Nissin supplies the brakes: 308mm dual front discs with radial-mount four-piston calipers and a 255mm disc and single-piston caliper out back. Both bikes can be ordered with ABS that can be deactivated for off-road duty.

Triumph is confident that these bikes will not only meet the competition head on, but generally succeed when it comes to a comparison of engine and chassis performance. After testing both models, we can understand Triumph’s feeling of confidence. We can’t wait to conduct our own comparison tests.

Spesification 2011 Triumph Sprint GT

Triumph has built its share of outrageous motorcycles-the "Nuclear Red" Speed Triple jumps to mind, as does the Rocket III in any color. The Sprint GT is not one of those bikes. The motorcycle market continues to become more refined, which calls for manufacturers to evolve our product lines to provide what customers are demanding,” says Jim Callahan, North American marketing manager for Triumph Motorcycles.

Powered by an updated 1050cc Triple, the GT promises a spirited ride with a claimed 130 horsepower (five more than the 2010 ST) and wonderful exhaust note. What make it a better touring bike are the new 31-liter hard saddlebags, ABS brakes and claimed 200-mile range.

Performance is taken care of by an updated version of Triumph's legendary 1050cc triple. First introduced in the 2005 Sprint ST, the latest incarnation of this great engine has been updated to deliver increased power, torque and usability. With 130bhp on hand, the Sprint GT offers excellent real world performance, with development focused on power delivery in the mid-range rather than chasing peak power.

2012 Harley Ultra Classic Review

Harley-Davidson returns in 2012 with it's long-haul touring model that's designed for ultra comfort the Ultra Classic Electra Glide.

But the motorcycle that set that standard for convenient, cross-country touring hasn't simply returned; replacing the Twin Cam 96 ci is the more powerful 103 ci with Electronic Port Fuel Injection and Electronic Throttle Control, an engine that produces 100 ft. lbs. of torque at 3250 rpm.

The CVO Ultra wheels roll on the new Chrome Mirror Custom Cut matching brake rotors, and King Tour-Pak features a new chrome LED brake / tail lights. Is, suspended dual-control heated, two-up seat and backrest have adjustable passenger HD Bar & Shield monogram pattern and texture of gravel. Electronic Throttle Control (ETC), cruise control, and ABS are standard equipment. Three new color combinations are available. For the American market, this bike is valued around $ 37.249 MSRP.

Touring’s also all about storage space and the CVO Ultra Classic has it in spades. Its King Tour-Pak offers 2.26 cubic-feet and is capable of easily holding a couple of full-faced helmets. It has nice chrome trim in the form of an Air-wing rack on the outside and new bass booster ports on the inside. The 2012 CVO Ultra Classic has a chrome wraparound LED which is highly visible when riders get on the brakes (I noticed while trailing the bike). Then there’s space in the hard saddlebags and pockets in the fairing lowers to boot.

New 2011 Kawasaki Vulcan 900 Classic SE

The Vulcan 900 Classic’s 903cc engine provides excellent performance, while rider floorboards complete with a heel and toe shifter enhance rider comfort. The tank-mounted instrumentation includes a handy fuel gauge and an easy-to-read analog speedometer. And its 5.3-gallon fuel tank is the largest in its class.

With its versatile 903cc liquid-cooled motor, the variations on the Vulcan 900 theme have been quite impressive for a smaller mid-size cruiser. For 2011, the Classic SE gets whitewall tires and a faux brushed-metal graphic that flows from the front of the tank to the tip of the rear fender.

The visual treats continue with curved cooling fins on the big, classic-looking V-twin, which bristles with modern touches inside including four-valve-per-cylinder performance and liquid-cooled reliability. An engine counterbalancer works with the single-pin crankshaft to produce that distinctive guttural V-twin sound and feel, but without the annoying V-twin vibration.

Perhaps one of the most striking examples of this Vulcan cruiser’s distinctive look is its large-diameter 21-inch front cast wheel itself somewhat rare in the custom motorcycle building world. The wheel features spokes arranged in pairs for a special visual appeal.

Balancing the lightweight look of the front end is a low, wide rear wheel featuring a 180mm tire on a 15-inch cast wheel that gives the rider the feeling of sitting on a one-of-a-kind, made-to-order motorcycle.

2012 Husqvarna CR 65 Review

The all new CR 65 extends the mini-bike range of Husqvarna and represents the pinnacle of Husqvarna's proven off-road product development with the use of quality materials and components that in turn offer a standard equipment level that is sure to become the benchmark for the category.

The frame has also been changed at the steering-head area, reinforced with chrome-moly 25CrMo4 steel plates. The rear seat rail and engine supports have also been similarly strengthened. Given the improved rigidity of the frame, the preload of the Kayaba suspension was reset: the fork has a harder setting and the monoshock damps more slowly. It is softer at the start of the stroke, and has a new progressive spring.

The engine of the Husqvarna CR65 can threaten adversaries, but the power delivery is just right for those learning to handle a powerful bike and go on to become champions. The single cylinder is 65 cc, water cooled, with two radiators, because the CR65's engine has all the horsepower to triumph and make its riders the champions of the future.

Above all else, the engine is absolutely reliable. Air intake is by means of reed valve and a large Mikuni 24 mm carburetor. The 6 speed gearbox has a clutch with hydraulic command, for more sensitivity and less strain on the rider.

2011 Moto Guzzi Norge 1200 GT 8V R Feature

Moto Guzzi seems to have all the bases covered with its new Norge GT 8V tourer. It's smoother and friendlier than ever, and a stiffer suspension set-up has stopped the old bike's tendency to get a weave-on around fast sweepers.

The 2012 version retains its 90-degree four-stroke V-Twin. The 1151cc mill has revised electronic controls in addition to its timing and cooling systems. Throttle response and midrange power is claimed to receive a boost from a new integrated ignition and injection ECU. Moto Guzzi reports power numbers at 76.7 lb-ft (104 Nm) at 5500 rpm and peak horsepower at 102.

With a weight of 566.6 lbs, the Norge’s saddle is 31.89 inches in height and has been outfitted with a wider, more padded seat. The handlebar position has been lowered and retracted slightly while its instrument panel has been moved to make it easier for riders to read.

A hat-trick target has been achieved with this new setup: efficient dissipation of heat, improved thermal insulation and more effective aerodynamic protection, to ensure both the rider and passenger enjoy their trip in complete comfort whatever the speed.
